Terms of Service

Recipe Curveball helps home cooks add and save recipes, find ingredient substitutes, discover recipes based on ingredients they have, create shopping lists, and manage ingredients they want or need to avoid. You may use the service for personal, non-commercial cooking purposes.

You agree not to use Recipe Curveball to break any law, distribute malware, harass anyone, overload the service, scrape content automatically, or try to access data that does not belong to you.

You can create an account with an email address and password or sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe. Recipe Curveball may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or appear to be compromised.

If you are signed in, you can delete your account from the Account page. If you cannot sign in, you can submit a deletion request through the Delete Account page.

When you choose to save a recipe, whether it was imported from a link or entered manually, Recipe Curveball stores its details in your account. This may include the recipe content, source information, substitutes you selected, notes, and a dish photo you choose to add. You keep ownership of original content you add, such as your own notes or photos of dishes you have cooked.

You grant Recipe Curveball the limited right to store, display, and process your saved recipes and notes so the service can work for you across devices.

Recipe Curveball can read a recipe from a link you paste, but the recipe still belongs to its original author and source. Recipe Curveball stores the source name and web address when available so you can return to the original page.

Recipe Curveball is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or availability of recipes or content on third-party websites. Always refer to the original source if you are unsure about an ingredient, step, or attribution.

Recipe Curveball helps identify possible substitutes for ingredients in a recipe. Results may consider the ingredient being replaced, its amount, how it is used, the cooking method, other ingredients in the recipe, and the type of recipe.

When appropriate, Recipe Curveball may also indicate that an ingredient can be left out or that no good substitute was found.

Substitute results are provided as cooking guidance and may not work in every recipe. Ingredients and products can vary, so users should review the recipe and substitute information before cooking.

Recipe Curveball lets you save a personal list of ingredients to avoid and tries to flag them in recipes and filter them out of substitute results. This is a convenience feature only.

You are responsible for checking every ingredient, product label, and substitution against your own allergies, dietary restrictions, medical needs, and food-safety requirements. Recipe Curveball does not provide medical or dietary advice.

Recipe Curveball’s name, logo, mascot, design, and code belong to Recipe Curveball. Recipes and content imported from third-party links belong to their original authors or publishers.

You may not copy, modify, or reuse Recipe Curveball’s branding or software without permission.

Recipe Curveball uses a small number of third-party services to operate, including:

• Lovable Cloud — hosts the website and app, provides authentication, and stores account data.
• Google — provides Google sign-in and serves the fonts used by Recipe Curveball. If you use Google sign-in, Google handles authentication under its own terms and privacy policy.
• Lovable AI Gateway and Google Gemini — help read recipe text from a link you paste when structured recipe data is not available.
• r.jina.ai, AllOrigins, and CodeTabs — may be used as fallback readers for a recipe page when it cannot be fetched directly.
• FatSecret — provides recipe information for What Can I Make? Search ingredients are sent to FatSecret to find relevant recipes.
• Google Play — distributes the Android app under its own policies.

These services process data as needed to provide their functions and are each governed by their own terms.

Recipe Curveball aims to be available and reliable, but the service may be slow or unavailable from time to time for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. Recipe Curveball does not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Recipe Curveball may update these Terms of Service or change features of the service at any time. When the terms change, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use Recipe Curveball after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Recipe Curveball provides recipe information and possible ingredient substitutes for general informational purposes only. Recipes, measurements, imported recipe information, ingredients, and substitute guidance may contain errors or may not work in every situation.

Recipe Curveball is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, Recipe Curveball will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of recipes, substitutes, imported content, or the service itself.

Recipe Curveball’s total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid, if anything, to use the service in the twelve months before the claim. Recipe Curveball is currently offered free of charge, so this amount may be zero.
